ZKsync: The latest upgrade proposal focuses on optimizing the elliptic curve pre-compilation, and the cost of ZK proof verification will drop by over 90%.
PANews reported on May 20 that ZKsync officially posted on the X platform that the latest ZKsync upgrade proposal focuses on optimizing elliptic curve pre-compilation and adding the ModExp pre-compilation function. The gas fee for verifying a typical zkSNARK proof will be reduced from about 6.8 million to about 370,000, a reduction of about 94%. With this upgrade, elliptic curve operations (ECAdd, ECMul, ECPairing) will be implemented directly in the circuit, reducing the cost of verifying ZK proofs by more than 90%. Added the ModExp precompilation function for fast exponentiation operations. This is critical for many different cryptography use cases, such as RSA and ZK proof verification. Developers don't need to take any action after upgrading. Existing contracts that already rely on these precompiled features do not need to be redeployed. Once upgraded, the call will automatically resolve to the new circuit implementation. The precompile upgrade has been launched on the ZKsync Era testnet.
