Microsoft's cloud computing business has seen a strong rise, surging 6% in after-hours trading.
On Wednesday, due to the strong rise in Azure cloud computing business, Microsoft's quarterly revenue exceeded expectations, convincing investors that its massive investment in artificial intelligence is yielding returns, which drove the company's stock price up by more than 6% in after-hours trading. This result may alleviate concerns about a slowdown in demand for artificial intelligence, as some analysts previously pointed out that Microsoft's cancellation of data center leases is a sign of overcapacity. Investors are also worried about the consequences of the US imposing tariffs, which are prompting companies to control spending. Microsoft stated that in the third fiscal quarter ending March 31, its Azure cloud computing division's revenue rose by 33%, surpassing Visible Alpha's estimate of 29.7%. The intelligent cloud division with Azure recorded $26.8 billion in revenue, exceeding the expected $26.17 billion. According to data compiled by LSEG, the company's overall revenue grew by 13% to $70.1 billion, exceeding the average analyst estimate of $68.42 billion.
