Annual Review of the AI Industry: OpenAI's Revenue Soars, Competition in Large Models Intensifies
AI Industry Trends Overview
OpenAI's annual revenue has reached $1.3 billion, with monthly revenue exceeding $100 million, a significant increase compared to last year's total of $28 million. The CEO of OpenAI believes that companies that simply apply ChatGPT will struggle to develop in the long run, and blindly seeking financing is unwise.
Moonshot AI has launched an intelligent assistant Kimi Chat that supports input of 200,000 Chinese characters, while most large language models globally have an input length of only about 2K. Zhiyuan Institute and Tsinghua KEG have released and open-sourced the multimodal large model CogVLM-17B. The Wudao ・ Tianying Aquila series of large language models from the Zhiyuan Research Institute has been fully upgraded, adding the 34 billion parameter Aquila2-34B.
Adobe has released three new Firefly models and launched over 100 new AI features in Creative Cloud applications. Google's AI search upgrade allows users to create images directly from text prompts. Apple's AI team has developed a multimodal large model called Ferret, which performs excellently in image recognition. Microsoft will integrate the Copilot AI assistant into applications like Office in November.
Analysts expect that the generative AI industry may "cool down" in 2024, and the development of technology may slow down. An IDC report shows that more than 50,000 domestic AI chip brands were shipped in the first half of 2023 in China. Industry insiders believe that AI is accelerating the fourth industrial revolution, putting more blue-collar jobs at risk.
